About This Project

This duet demonstrates the more lyrical type of Contemporary technique whereby the musical tone dictates and leads the movement and the concept behind the movement. Choreography in this case tends to use the words and the feeling behind the tune to create movement. This piece explores the very traditional Contemporary concept that veers away from traditional dance such as ballet. With Contemporary technique, the male dancer does not always lead and lift, the gender roles are more shared having female dancers also taking the lead. As the piece evolves, both dancers male and female, have their moments in being vulnerable, being led as well and taking control. This piece also enjoys the more traditional partnering that an audience seems to enjoy watching so much.
